Zhangjiajie, located in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, lies in the middle and upper reaches of the Lishui River and is the hinterland of the Wuling Mountains. Stepping into Zhangjiajie is like entering a dreamy realm. The wind, carrying the fresh air of the mountains and forests, gently caresses your face, instantly awakening your heart that has been slumbering in the mundane world.
In the mist – enshrouded scenery, the strange peaks and rocks loom faintly. Some solitary peaks shoot up from the ground, piercing the clouds, just like immortals living in seclusion. Others gather in groups of three or five, as if they are whispering stories of the past. - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park: It is the core scenic area. The Hallelujah Mountain in Yuanjiajie is famous because of the movie Avatar. You can take the Bailong Elevator to reach the top quickly. Huangshizhai is a must – visit place. There is a saying that “if you don’t go to Huangshizhai, your trip to Zhangjiajie is in vain.” Standing on the top, you can overlook the strange peaks.

- Transportation: Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport is close to the urban area. You can take the airport shuttle bus or a taxi to the urban area or the scenic area. There are shuttle buses from Zhangjiajie Railway Station and West Station to the scenic area. There are environmentally – friendly buses in the scenic area, which are convenient for traveling.
- Accommodation: There are many accommodation options in the urban area, and the prices are relatively affordable. The homestays near Wulingyuan have a beautiful environment and are close to the scenic area. Staying on the mountain, you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset, but the accommodation conditions may be relatively simple.
- Season: Spring and autumn are the best tourist seasons. The weather is pleasant, and the scenery is extremely beautiful. In spring, everything comes back to life, and wildflowers are in bloom. In autumn, the forests are dyed with various colors. In summer, you can go to the Jinbian River to escape the heat. In winter, Zhangjiajie is covered in silver, but pay attention to keeping warm.
